Since its origins in 2001 Amperion has developed an impressive Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio. Amperion is the holder of the foundational patents for Broadband over Powerline (BPL) communications.
BPL is defined as the method of using the electric utility's own wires for broadband communications at multi megabit data rates.
The foundational patents are grouped into families and have worldwide coverage. Granted US patents include:

Over the years, the Amperion team of communications and power engineers developed many patents in the areas of powering methods from the grid, enhancing communication methods over High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) lines, RF signal coupling and filtering, and hybrid communications of wireless and BPL. The patents cover a variety of innovations that were incorporated in many of Amperion's products.
